Letterdrop – the role in Media

Is it Junk Mail? To you its not, to your local community… lets hope not!
Letterdrop can be a great form of media is the prime purpose is to network with your local community and provide new of SPECIAL SALES in your store.

This form of media is ideal for garden centres and landscape supply yards – local people are more likely to go to a local outlet to buy things.

The drop can be in the from of a brochure, a pamphlet or a letter. Although colour seems to the be preferred from of presentation these days, it is also overused (perhaps abused) resulting in consumers throwing the media directly in the bin. Look at all the other media that is delivered by letterdrop. Yours must be different – it must stand out and be noticed by the consumer. Consider a different paper quality, colour or even size.

How to Letterdrop

Don’t do it yourself. Use the services of Australia Post or one of the many other private letter drop services. The cost becomes more attainable if you do it this way.

Tips for Letterdrop Media
• Keep it short and informative – a single sheet or folded DL size.
• Disguise the advertisement in the form of information so that readers take note of your advert.
• Every time you have a special, do another letterdrop – this is good to get repeat business.
• Letterdrop is not suitable for all products and services…test it, but if it does not work, move onto magazines or alternative media.

Hidden expenses?
Additional expenses you need to be aware of are:
- studio time and talent time to record the commercial. Note: get the professionals to do it.
- verify the price as GST included.
- first time advertisers generally have to pay upfront as no credit history has been formed with the radio station. This may change over time as you become a regular advertiser.
- always pay on time as fee penalties may be enforced.
